The officials

The role of officials and judges

Referees are essential to ensure that the rules are applied and that competitions run smoothly. Various training courses are available for referees:

  • Competition judge
  • Technical Delegate
  • Race director
  • Timekeeper
  • Federal tracer and Expert federal tracer

Prerequisites for federal officials and judges :

  • Must be at least 16 years old (adult for biathlon)
  • Possess a valid competitor's or manager's license that meets the requirements of a good-repute check.
  • Participate in initial and/or ongoing training
  • 2 missions per season

    • 12/15/2025 - 6pm: Continuing education - Chrono for FIS races
